Magdalena Pardo
I studied audiovisual arts and worked for some time in the Argentinean film industry. For the past 4 years I’ve been working as a freelance graphic designer for international companies.
I have always been involved in activities that focused on art and expression. Besides from my academic studies, I have attended several literature workshops, script writing workshops, and many other creativity courses. I was always keen on photography but it was not until a few years ago that I started to get more involved in it. I am happily experiencing that photography is a way of gathering all of these aesthetic disciplines into one solid expression.
I think that I already had some time developing a personal point of view that I’m trying to show (and, mainly, improve) in my photographs. For me, photography is liberating and challenging. I mainly use film and I usually use old analogue cameras (but it’s not a must).
Probably because my approach to photography was subsequent to other studies that I was not able to dissociate photography from narrative.
I don’t approach my work from a meditated plan; I experience reality and look at it through my personal lens. I like to work with the real world variables and I’ve never done any staged shot. There are some topics that always attract my attention, like desolated spaces, languid characters, poetic bodies and deep looks. I specially like to work with color and I try to capture nostalgic and timeless everyday moments.
