They can be fun and flirty or a little more sultry and sexy. Boudoir means a lady’s private bedroom. In photography, it’s the art of taking intimate portraits.
Dani Mullan is 28 years old and has been married to her husband for a little more than a year. Photographer Jennifer Mott shot all of the couple’s wedding pictures. Recently, Dani decided to get in front of the lens again.
“I had seen other boudoir sessions on Jennifer’s page, her website, and I thought they looked so neat,” says Dani. “And I would love to do it, but I wasn’t sure if I had the guts to do it.”
Dani found the courage. Not only did she let Jennifer snap her photos, she allowed our own cameras to capture some of the intimate shoot.
Jennifer says a lot of women struggle with the idea of taking it off for the camera, so she tries to make the shoot as comfortable as possible. “I’m a woman, I’m a mom, somebody who you can be comfortable with….I will let you have some drinks to calm down, put some music on, make it very comfortable,” she says.
Jennifer says she is contacted three to five times a week, and not only by brides-to-be and newlyweds. “I do get a lot of calls from slightly older women that have had kids, gotten back in shape, and are very proud of their bodies,” she explains.
Like Dani, most women get the pictures to give as a gift. She says she’s thrilled with how the photos turned out, and she’s happy she finally found a gift her husband is sure to love.
